Search Rediffmail

In today's world where everybody is concerned about usability and User Experience, its really interesting (or should I say disgusting) to notice that a premier free mail service fails to serve what happens to be a basic user requirement.

A few months back, I was hurriedly looking to find some mail in my Rediffmail Inbox when I noticed the search option on the top. I just typed the key word (which was the sender's name) and its been almost three months now and I am still waiting for the result to appear.

I raised a request to the help desk who responded after a day or so saying they would look into the issue and get back to me. Its been over a month now and no news as yet.

And all of a sudden today when I was looking at the same "Preparing to search your emails. It may take a few seconds. This is only a one time process" message, my eyes suddenly saw something in the "This is only a one time process" message. May be its my mis-interpretation and not Rediff's mistake. May be Rediff is trying to tell me that I can click on the Search button only once and it would never appear again.

So, whose mistake is it anyway? I am confused.. but am very clear as to which email provider not to use.

Budhia? Who?

Haven't heard about the four year old boy who literally ran in to the Limca book of Records. And did not stop there. He is now runing on all news channels and press media not for running the 65 km (almost 34 miles) in two and hours but because
the NHRC feels that the little boy has been exploited by his coach. The Government "..also fears the long distances may be damaging the boy's heart and lungs."

Lets give him some time to breathe. The kid may feel tortured now and not (if at all) by his coach.

All said and done, isnt it an amazing feat for a four years old to (for any average man) run a 65 KMs marathon. I wonder how these guys manage to complete the 42 KM marathon and this tiny tot has driven the brains out of me by running almost one and half times the stretch.

Call it will power? Whatever, I am all charged up.

How to Cook Rice Perfectly?

I just bumped across this article on How to cook Rice Perfectly through del.icio.us as one of the most tagged articles. Interestingly, the article tells nothing more than what an Indian mother would tell if she attempts to teach her children how to cook rice. What makes it even interesting is the fact that quite a few Indians also have tagged it for their reference (No sarcasm - sheer surprise).

Don't you feel we are depending so much on the net that we don't even want to learn what we are supposed to be good at?
